About Judith Godden

Judith is based on the South Ayrshire coast and has been working in pewter for the last 10 years. Her professional background is in clinical research but she has always enjoyed contrasting this with spending time on more artistic pursuits particularly working with pewter. In recent years, Judith has been a multiple award-winner at Pewter Live, her work recognised for exploring different techniques including repousse and etching.  Judith’s designs are often based around nature and coastal themes and incorporate art nouveau and celtic styles.

Entry description

Murmuration depicts the spectacular sight of the murmuration of starlings; hundreds of birds in free flight, working in close harmony to create beautiful dynamic patterns in the evening sky.  These shapes have been created conceptually using both form in the spoon handle and the anticlastic shaping of the napkin rings and more literally through the etched design.
