Rory Crellin has been studying pewtering at Freeman College since January 2021. His influences are wildlife, especially wolves, ancient history and fantasy such as the works of JRR Tolkien.
‘This piece was inspired by the movement of the ocean, breaking waves and the power required to leap from the water. I used a lathe to spin and form the pewter and I cast the decorative parts before soldering everything together. My bowl is designed to be a functional and decorative object for the table. It is a piece that draws its energy from natural power but not aggression.’
