Susannah creates contemporary jewellery and the occasional piece of homeware, using pewter, silver or gold. She often combines metal with silicone, resin or wood. She is inspired by popular culture and is fascinated by the charms of everyday objects and forest fauna.
Susannah studied Designed Metalwork and Jewellery at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College from 2000 to 2003 and went straight to work for Diana Porter and then Nicholas Wylde. She completed the National Association of Goldsmiths JET Gemstone course in 2006 and is now an Associate Member of the NAJ.
Throughout her career, she has enjoyed evening classes in Photography, Illustration, Photoshop and Printmaking, all of which have influenced the way Susannah designs and presents her work.
Entry description
A decorative box, for storing trinkets and jewellery, designed for the luxury gift market. Manufacture will be as a one-off or small production using casting, raising and punching. Jesmonite will add colour and strength and scorched fabric will add texture. The inspiration was the song “Freedom 90” by George Michael.
