Mirabel Hammond is a 2nd year Product Design student at Buckinghamshire New University.
Inspired by user needs, Mirabel enjoys solving real world challenges, marrying form and function to create harmonious design solutions. The combination of precision craftmanship and modern technologies such as 3D printing and computerised routers, are applied in her work to create everyday products with enhanced performance and a whimsical personality. Inspired by the beauty of the Chiltern hills woodland, Mirabel adopts natural elements that inspire a calmness and awe that may be lost in our increasingly modernized lives. Through embracing natural elements, she is able to return aspects of previously used design styles to modern products. Through this process Mirabel is able to create products that can be admired for years to come.
As well as Product Design, Mirabel paints pet portraits in acrylics as well as being involved with Bucks Blades HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). In future, she wishes to have a positive impact on peoples lives by developing her work and to never stop adding to her skillset.
Entry description
Themed around the stars and our ability to admire them clearly, this is a design for glasses to give the wearer freedom of perfect sight. Replacing the arm with a chain provides freedom of comfort to every wearer, eliminating the need for individual size adjustments.
