Richard Reeve is a South Yorkshire based designer-maker who produces limited-edition bespoke pieces. He has developed a passion for working with pewter as it matches his creative needs and is so versatile. Inspired by his surroundings and his fascination with railways and industrial architecture, Richard works in a beautiful old, converted factory with big windows looking out onto a cobbled courtyard where steam boilers once stood and the chimney still remains.
Entry description
‘Dawn Awakening is a kinetic sculpture mimicking the movements of flowers as they open in sunlight and close in the dark. I want to represent life’s dependency on the sun and capture a magical moment of evolution. I made the piece from cast and sheet pewter with some brass mechanical components mounted on a wooden base.’
