About Sandra Litchfield

Sandra was an infant teacher in a training college in Cheltenham where she enjoyed for many years the freedom to teach small children through the mediums of art and craft.

After retiring from teaching she joined the Guild of Enamellers and a local jeweller taught her to work with metals. She attended Plymouth College of Art where she studied for her B.A. in Applied Arts. She worked with many varied materials but decided to focus on pewter and was previously encouraged to apply to Pewter Live in the student category. All her designs are based on the flora and fauna of the South West, and she always starts by sketching and photographing ideas on the local beach. She collects shells from the beaches and casts them for her pieces. She also uses seasoned wood as bases for  pieces of wall art or standing sculptures, which can be used on patios and in gardens.
