Trish Woods is based in Liverpool and produces limited edition and bespoke jewellery and giftware items. She originally trained in Silversmithing at Loughborough College of Art and went on to teach design and metals for over 20 years. She has worked in Pewter for the last 15 years and strives to bring a new, contemporary aesthetic to this traditional metal.
Trish studied for a PhD in Design researching new methods for patinating pewter. This research culminated in the development of a unique process for colouring pewter which is now a signature of her work.
Entry description
Hand crafted vase manufactured from sheet pewter aimed at the Arts market. The imagery symbolises freedom, depicting birds in flight, fleeing a dark void for the light of the sky and space. The circle form is symbolic of the world and patination is used to create effects of darkness and light.
